I'm curious if shanks was already dueling against mihawk at that time. This small action by shanks had immeasurable repercussions in the story. Hancock and her sisters, koala, hundreds of other slaves, the sun pirates, everything they did in the future came from this single act from shanks, who is only alive because of dragon's actions in god valley. He was told and shown again and again that only total submission would get him there and he finally accepted it when he declared he would even become a slave. This chapter, he again says that he’s ready to do anything - and we know the god knights hate written history in the hands of anyone but themselves / imu. Burning the library is one of the first things killingham and sommers do when attacking elbaph. His silhouette when he gets stabbed seems to have a horn and a spike on his elbow that looks like he’s been domi reversi’d, so there’s still a bit of hope that he eventually gets a demand so outrageous that he says no, but I’m leaning more and more towards some of the other giants realizing how much they’re being sold out and deciding to keep elbaph unaffiliated, even if it means usurping their popular king.
