He certainly bit off more than he could chew, quite literally this time.

Ultimate Guide For One Piece Chapter 1086

I'm not upset about Vivi being a descendant of the "D." It's just harder to see the typical "D" characteristics in her. Nevertheless, she has always been courageous and remained steadfast in her own convictions. This might mean she possesses King's Haki, considering she is the ruler who values peace above all else. It makes sense for Law to be a "D" due to his betrayal of the Kings' Alliance, but it doesn't explain why he was one of the twenty to begin with. Perhaps the "D" is more deeply intertwined with their past than they are willing to acknowledge. Or maybe Law was the only "D" and the true ruler of them all. Still no clue about Imu, firing a shadow arrow. We already have the Kage Kage no Mi, Soot Soot Fruit, and Yami Yami no Mi, so it's likely something else entirely.

All we really need to consider is whether Oda also foresaw the need to rescue the original storyline of One Piece from his future corrupted self!

While it's true that class struggles are thematized in various points of the story, compromising the entire plot for this aspect would be unwise. One Piece encompasses a multitude of elements, which is precisely why it has gained such immense popularity. People can connect with the story in their own unique ways. Some may appreciate the exploration of class struggles and societal decay, while others find joy and inspiration within the narrative. When stories become cultural treasures, it's important to preserve their inherent ambiguity, as canonization can sometimes be detrimental. Even the possibility of Oda altering his original storyline remains a part of One Piece's evolution.

The way Imu speaks and the depiction of their mysterious powers suggests a more overt form of discrimination. It could be related to a distinct race or entity, rather than solely being tied to royalty. Within the overarching plot, it's conceivable that Imu's backstory aligns with the interpretation you presented. It's not uncommon to have a villain with a life that starkly contrasts that of the protagonist.

  1. The focus on Im's eyes reminds me of the time when we used to see nothing but Pain's eyes. Even though we weren't told it was a dojutsu it was unique enough for us to think that, along with how powerful we expected Pain to be as leader of Akatsuki. All the different discussions about Im and his abilities, and now about the Gorosei and their abilities honestly brings up nostalgia to the what powers do the members of Akatsuki have.

At the end of the day seems Oda wants to hold off these reveals for a bit so hopefully they are worth the wait. At the very least we should see Saturns powers this arc which will give us an idea of the scale of their powers. One thing I do know is I would not be surprised if it turns out Im has some eye related power (something akin to three eye tribe) with how much focus Oda has given them.
