Notably, we are introduced to the fathers of Marco the Phoenix and Roxbeck (Rocks), giving us long-awaited glimpses into the bloodlines that shaped future legends. Yet, the most unsettling revelation centers around the mysterious entity known as Imu portrayed here as a godlike, malevolent force referred to ominously as “the world.”

The chapter opens with a touching exchange between Shaki and Rayleigh, whose quiet affection contrasts beautifully with the grand chaos surrounding them. Unlike the exaggerated love of characters such as Boa Hancock, their relationship is defined by subtlety and mutual respect a grounded portrayal that enriches One Piece’s emotional tapestry. It’s a rare instance of Oda showcasing love as something steady and enduring rather than loud or performative, deepening the realism of these legendary figures.
Justice and Moral Reckoning: Garp’s Redemption
Garp’s portrayal in this chapter may be one of his most humanizing yet. His rage and despair upon witnessing the atrocities committed by the Celestial Dragons on God Valley reveal a man caught between duty and conscience.
For perhaps the first time, we see Garp not as the unflinching “Hero of the Marines,” but as a man in moral crisis confronting the hypocrisy of the system he serves. His emotional turmoil mirrors Dragon’s ideological awakening, highlighting the split between reform from within (Garp) and revolution from without (Dragon).
This shared origin makes their eventual ideological divergence all the more tragic and compelling.
Origins and Bloodlines: Marco’s Legacy and Kaido’s Treachery
The introduction of Marco’s father offers new insight into the mythical Phoenix fruit, potentially linking it to ancient immortality myths within the world of One Piece. This connection not only expands the lore of devil fruits but also deepens Marco’s significance as an inheritor of both will and power.
Meanwhile, Kaido’s comedic yet sinister moment of stealing Big Mom’s devil fruit provides both levity and foreshadowing. His smug expression, vividly illustrated, captures the essence of Kaido’s arrogance while hinting at the fragile alliances and betrayals that defined the Rocks Pirates’ downfall. It’s a brilliant bit of visual storytelling that shows us exactly why trust is such a rare currency among pirates.
Kuma’s Heroism and the Hidden Survivors of God Valley
One of the chapter’s most powerful moments is Bartholomew Kuma’s act of sacrifice rescuing over 500 civilians from the carnage of God Valley. His compassion amidst chaos reframes his legacy, proving that heroism in One Piece often comes not from power, but from empathy.
These survivors or more importantly, their descendants may still exist in the present day, carrying knowledge or bloodlines that will become crucial in the final saga. Kuma’s actions ensure that the truth of God Valley was never completely buried, keeping the embers of rebellion alive through generations.
The Misunderstanding of Love: Figarland Garling vs. Rocks
The fight between Garling and Rocks captures one of the chapter’s most poignant themes the distortion of love. Garling, embodying the arrogance of divine right, faces defeat at the hands of a man fighting not for power, but for family.
Rocks’ tragic backstory his family transformed into demons adds emotional gravity to his motives and implies that the power known as “Domain Reversi” might belong to figures beyond Imu, possibly Garling himself.
The introduction of Aerys, Rocks’ mother, solidifies this emotional thread. Her determination, tempered by fear, paints a haunting picture of love struggling to survive under the shadow of divine cruelty.
The True Enemy: Imu as “The World”
Perhaps the most chilling revelation of the chapter is Rocks’ final declaration: “We’re fighting the world.”
This isn’t just a poetic phrase it’s literal. Imu, now confirmed as the being referred to as “the world,” represents a force beyond political or military power. Imu symbolizes systemic domination itself the unseen hand that has manipulated history, bloodlines, and even gods.
This connection retroactively redefines the motives of the Blackbeard Pirates, whose ambitions now mirror Rocks’ rebellion against divine tyranny. If Imu embodies the world’s control, then Blackbeard and eventually Luffy represent the counterforce: freedom itself.

Final Thoughts
This chapter is One Piece at its finest a seamless blend of emotional storytelling, philosophical depth, and grand-scale worldbuilding. It redefines what we know about justice, love, and power while tying together decades of narrative threads.
By bridging the past with the present, Oda has set the stage for the final confrontation one that will pit freedom against control, love against corruption, and humanity against divinity itself.
The God Valley chapter isn’t just a flashback. It’s a mirror reflecting everything One Piece has stood for since its very beginning.

Would be nice if the 3 person team up is a bit of a hint to monster trio. Rocks and Whitebeard powers already active. Luffy and Zoro unlocking CoC and ACoC, Sanji the Kaido one (both kind of soldiers, though Sanji did not end up one) where Kaido was there without his current powers he has but now is the Kaido of the current timeline. An eventual Sanji Coc and ACoC awakening, given that we may be got Cliff hangered there right before the story.
ReplyDeleteWould be interesting if Roger later joined the fight by the way but maybe was too far away.
The other interesting thing would be if somehow Luffy Devil Fruit is in fact the legendary devil fruit. Would make sense with Shanks stealing it. And Harald size and strength wise being able to make better use of it than Rocks. The Harold situation seems like the if captured kill self. And then this is the whole Harald ruined plan. Then basically Shanks purpose was getting the Gum Gum fruit, and he actually had to steal it back. But there seems to be more to the store within a year with how it ended up with who's who.
On the other side it could be in fact the devil fruit Shamrock has, wasted on a weapon. When you link Shanks tona destined child.
It will probably lead to Luffy's fruit being the legendary devil fruit, but would be interesting if it is a different devil fruit. Hopefully not Blackbeard's devil fruit. Hopefully something new.
Would be something if the fight became Imu vs Blackbeard, Shanks and Luffy. Even so I do wonder what the Devil fruit will be said to be. Seems nearing that point. As I guess once the Rocks battle is over it gets to news of Harold, Loki reaction to it, Harold actions from it then day of the incident.
Ill try to be as honest , as i can,, if we are talking about facing IMU ITSELF,,except for Luffy i CANT SEE ANYONE ELSE..BEING able to fight him directly other than Luffy,, not even zoro,,, of course chars like usopp, nami,, they are at this point ABSOLUTLY USELESS,,as it was show in Wano,, they got beat really badly... in a similar way Shanks is allowing extremely weak pirates to sail the new world thanks to his power,, Luffy, Zoro, And Sanji, are literally carriying away the rest of the crew at this point...i still have hopes one of the Keys to beat Imunko, it is Brook and the emotional damage he can provide,, triying to reach Gunko itself, deep buried inside imu´s control,, that could provide an opening for an attack in the same way she grab her chest when she kick Brooks.. hurting someone you love is always awful.
ReplyDeleteI feel like we are going to get the Blackbeard thinks everybody betrayed Rocks.
ReplyDeleteSeems all the people he went after are God Valley affiliated directly or indirectly.
Though he seems to have skipped Roger and Kaido.
Though he got Roger indirectly through Ace.
My guess is in fact Yamato will become a target when revealed child of Kaido, something he could learn through caribou. But may even just happen accidentally. Even Kuma, Ginny and possibly Saturn indirectly through Bonney. Especially if the Devil Fruits came from raiding God Valley.
