I think loki probably felt that no one would believe him and like you said, he didn't want to cause more problems. Its almost like he wanted to stop being a trouble maker specifically for ida and his first action doing so was to not tell anyone about the poisoning. All roads lead back to shanks. He is the thread that weaves the story together. Harald was too naive, should have listened to ida. I guess he was referring to the fact that harald got the contract because shanks went missing. At the same time I think it's implied that the reason shanks bailed is because he learnt about the soulbound component of the contract and was looking for harald to warn him.
