One Piece Chapter 1164 will likely to immediately follow the devastating cliffhanger of Imu using the Domi Reversi ability on Rocks D. Xebec, compelling the former pirate captain to attack his own family, Eris and Teach. The chapter will likely focus on the immediate, chaotic fallout, showing the desperate struggle of Monkey D. Garp and Gol D. Roger as they are forced to join forces against the possessed Rocks in the main clash that will be forever known as the God Valley Incident. We may also see Monkey D. Dragon playing a crucial, yet unseen, role as a young witness to this tragedy, possibly leading to him discovering a Devil Fruit or securing the chest containing Shanks, further cementing the incident's importance to the world's most prominent figures.

The Ultimate Betrayal: Xebec's Agony

Previous chapter ended on a cliffhanger that left the entire fandom breathless: Imu, the World Government's true sovereign, unleashing their bizarre and terrifying ability on Rocks D. Xebec himself, with the unthinkable command: "Execute your own family."

Chapter 1164 plunges us directly into the fallout. We witness the horrifying visual confirmation of Imu's power to not just control, but to re-program a person's core essence. Xebec, the man who sought to be the King of the World, the legend whose ambition alone united a crew of future Emperors, is now reduced to a tormented puppet.

The panels focusing on Xebec are a masterclass in tragedy. His eyes, once burning with megalomaniacal fire, are now hollowed out by the agonizing conflict between his innate will and the alien command controlling his body. The true horror isn't his death, but the moral injury Imu inflicts, forcing Xebec to turn his terrifying strength against the very subordinates he was just fighting alongside Kaido, Big Mom, and Whitebeard. It’s the ultimate confirmation that Imu's power isn't about physical destruction; it's about soul-crushing domination.

A Glimmer of Hope: The Roger/Garp Dynamic

Amidst this chaos, the unexpected alliance shines brighter. Gol D. Roger and Monkey D. Garp are truly fighting the good fight, not just against Imu, but against the ripple effects of Imu's control.

Garp's raw, uncompromising Haki proves to be the only immediate counter to the "Domi Reversi" control field, even if only temporarily. We see the Navy Hero step in, shielding his former rival from a brainwashed Xebec’s devastating strike, leading to an incredible double-page spread of the two legends combining their forces.

This is the chapter that solidifies their partnership as one born of necessity, but bonded by a shared, almost spiritual desire to protect the freedom of the world from the unseen hand of evil. This isn't just a flashback; it's a blueprint for the final battle, showing us the fundamental power dynamic that must be overcome in the present day: sheer, unyielding Willpower against absolute, systemic Control

The Seed of Destiny: A Red-Haired Baby

Perhaps the most potent lore drop of the chapter is a quiet moment hidden in the destructive frenzy. As the Rocks Pirates' remnants are scattered and Roger and Garp are pushed to their limit, a panel subtly shifts to a separate location on God Valley.

A very young, panicked Shanks, not yet the confident Emperor we know, is shown being carefully guarded by a figure that is hinted to be one of the Holy Knights. The speculation that Shanks has a hidden lineage, potentially connected to the Celestial Dragons, seems more real than ever. His protection by an agent of the World Government suggests a crucial, hidden pact or a desperate family rescue that will tie directly into the current narrative. This isn't just history; it's Luffy's destiny being shaped in the shadows of his mentor's origin story.

What Does This Mean for the Final Saga?

Chapter 1164 is a heavy, intense read that confirms one terrifying fact: Imu is not a fighter like Kaido or Whitebeard. They are a force of reality manipulation and psychological warfare.

The "Domi Reversi" ability, which can turn the strongest people into obedient monsters, perfectly foreshadows the battle on Elbaf, where the Straw Hats are now facing a legion of controlled giants. The stakes are no longer about winning a fight, but about freeing the soul of the oppressed.

Oda has done it again. He's taken one of the biggest mysteries in the lore and delivered an answer that is as spectacular as it is profoundly tragic, setting the stage for a final war where the greatest weapon will not be a Devil Fruit, but the sheer, indomitable Will of D.

What was your most shocking moment in Chapter 1164, and how do you think Luffy will manage to overcome Imu's control in the present?

  1. I like to think that somehow Black Beard remembers these events (his terrified face when Celestial dragons tried to kill him makes me think it became core memory) So I'm wondering why did he betray White Beard like when it seemed like he was loyal to his father.
Is he mad because Whitebeard couldn't save Rocks? Is he pure evil? Was it Davy Jones influence?
Is Blackbeard's ability to eat two Devil fruit special among special bloodline?

  2. Xebec tells Imu that Davy Jones was the true king of the world, that one day someone will fulfill the "WILL OF DAVY"!!! He then asks Imu if he's more afraid, of Joyboy OR Davy Jones.
So what were people saying that Joy Boy and Davy Jones were the same person.

  3. I assume the chapter also addresses what Whitebeard is doing that too. That last spoiler got a bunch of things right like Kaido/BM losing to Rocks, which makes me think Whitebeard is in fact fighting Garling?

Maybe he does really get that scar from him? Xebec beat Kaido and Big Mom but will lose to Roger and Garp.

These panels still don't make sense. Could it be her crews was the reason Roger chose to steal? I don't know why they doubted the spoilers the first time around. Everytbing sounded clear cut lol.

Keep tellingbthese idiots. They are not in their prime. We know this based on the fact that shanks is only 1. When we saw a stronger rodger and whitebeard shanks was already 12 lol. .

With all that being said..... Rox for me is the best written pirate in onpiece bar-none. Imfact rox is such an incredible pirate that it actually makes me disappointed in blackbeard lol. I love bb for what he is. But after seeing his dad in action.....bruh.

  4. But as for why he was called a pirate, I have only read from a handful of ponegliffs, but what I found there was the record of a breathtakingly vast war. JoyBoy’s enemy was the World Government of the present day!! More accurately, it was the precursor to the World Government, a provisional army put together by 20 kingdoms known as The Alliance!! You might say they had no other choice, so robust was JoyBoy’s faction!! Without knowing the spark that caused the war, I won’t say who was right or wrong, I’ll simply state that the two competing ideologies came head-to-head. As I mentioned earlier, for its time 900 years ago, the country of JoyBoy’s birth was a startlingly advanced civilization. And the weapons that were used over the course of this 100-year conflict appear to be impossible to re-create with the latest of modern science. Even I, a humble genius, cannot replicate them!! And therein lies the problem!!!
The Void Century came to a close with the defeat of JoyBoy… But not before leaving vast, permanent scars of war across the face of the world!!!

  5. Young Roger and Garp killing demon Xebec who washed Big Mom and post fruit Kaido (and killing assumes it will go down quick) is further Roger and Garp upscale, which is coherent with the fact that Roger, Garp and Xebec were leading the era.
So Davy Jones was likely King of the First World. Makes sense since the First World ended because of greed, which is what Davy Is known for even now.
When Xebec becomes a demon, he attacks Kaido, Big Mom, and Whitebeard simultaneously.
He hurls Kaido into the mountain while kicking Big Mom and attacking Whitebeard.
Whitebeard vs. Xebec is so insane, that part of God Valley is destroyed.

  6. Urgh this pacing. Well it’s a given after all
But only NOW do the Garp and Roger va Rocks start? Please let it only be a chapter.
What need to be resolved now is how Garp avoided cowardly petty retribution
And while many died, it’s clear not ALL died on God Valley. So what was the catalyst that made Imu retreat and seemingly give up?
But in the end it truly was Kuma that transported Eris, now let’s see if that leads to the final question if Buggy was Xebec other son.

  7. Seems like a really good chapter.

It seems like God Valley and the Davy Clan must have been passing down Void Century information for generations considering the information Xebec has in hand. It's crazy how we went from Sengoku informing his soldiers about Rocks as though Rocks was the most evil person in history; even going so far as to say that Roger and Garp were fighting to protect the Tenryuubito and their slaves from him, when in reality Rocks wasn't really there to do much more than save his own family members. I'm going to make a guess here that Xebec's limited ability to resist Imu's will during Domi Reversi is the only way Garp and Roger were able to defeat him.

It's crazy how despite all the evil villains we've seen that Imu still seems to stand alone in how evil they are. You could even argue that Doflamingo's level of evil only existed due to an environment that Imu cultivated. Given how dire everything seems you have to wonder what caused the Roger Pirates to laugh. They've seen the prime evil of the OP verse and felt what must have been extreme hopelessness but somehow managed to make it to the end of the Grand Line and laugh. I wonder if making One Piece this dark was on the cards in the early portions of the series, or if Oda steered it this way to appeal to his growing audience.

Then in the background we have Kuma. Literal decades ago in real life time, he saved Luffy by giving all of his pain and suffering to Zoro. Then he saved them at SA by sending them all off to their own respective training arcs. Then they arrive back at SA only to find that even in his mindless state he defended their ship from onslaught for two entire years. Then this dude shows up to save Bonney from being killed by Saturn right after we find out he saved the vast majority of slaves/victims on God Valley including the ones who assaulted him, then spent his adolescence taking on pain for the sick and elderly unbeknownst to them after his entire childhood being nothing but pain and suffering. He then has the love of his life kidnapped by the WG and forced to bear one of their children, then cast out after she's too sick, where she dies and leaves a child with him who he bears no ill will towards and on the contrary dedicates his entire being/life to saving from the same illness. It's really interesting to see that he's also responsible for saving Teach at that time, who is essentially the duality of Luffy who he eventually saves numerous times as well.

  8. Seems like it's a pretty clear setup for Luffy (Joyboy) and Blackbeard (Davy Jones). It would explain why Imu asked Xebec if he's Davy Jones. Imu is probably expecting Davy Jones or Joyboy to appear around this time period, but unsure of what to expect. It'd make sense why Toki was jumping through time without an exact date in mind to find a time where Wano was open and free, but landed approximately 800 years into the future.
I think the Will of D is seperate from the Will of Davy and the Will of Davy is a play on Will of Davy.
Taking them as separate helps create the separation between Blackbeard and Luffy, and further gives sense to the afraid of Joyboy or Jones comment.
There are two competing wills within the D line, which I think is more realistic than hidden families having the same view of what an Imu-less world looks like.

  9. Rocks did manipulate the Rocks Pirates to go to God Valley so he could save his family. Sengoku did frame the confrontation between Roger, Garp and Rocks in a dishonest way. I didn't say he was a saint and I have never seen someone post that he is, nor did I mention anything about his alliance giving him any kind of morality boost. At the end of the day he's a complicated character and a pirate. He would likely fall under "chaotic neutral" in the DND alignment spectrum, whereas Imu would fall under "lawful evil." It's pretty weird to call him the most evil person when we've seen Garling, a subordinate of Imu, murder the mother of his children in cold blood and go out of his way to convince the Gorosei to then annihilate their homeland by making it the center of a game where they hunt children. Then you have Imu literally trying to force Rocks to murder his own family.

So I don't really agree with you that taking a few ruffians who happen to be strong makes Xebec more evil than the government that commits genocide, endorses slavery, has a literal devil leading it and forcibly transforms people into demon servants while annihilating entire countries for uttering words spoken 800 years ago... I mean really. Our introduction to a low-ranked Tenryuubito was him riding a literal human slave like a horse while having multiple women chained up by the neck to him in a harem of slaves, then shooting someone for being in his way while his sister shoots one of her slaves then has their shitty dog pee on his corpse. Then they go on to talk about how they'll put the mermaid they just bought in a tank full of pirahnas. Rocks isn't a saint but he's not cruel, and he's not more evil than the establishment he's trying to destroy.

  10. Imu saying the Davy Clan needs to die really makes him seem a good guy considering Blackbeard.

Fought king of world with my dad:
Roger - Get his son captured and eventually killed, attack his apprentice
Garp - Try to capture his grandson, kidnap prized pupil
Whitebeard - Kill his crewmate and get his favorite underling killed, kill him and steal his devil fruit

Kuma saves his life and Kuma wife help caused the commotion that allowed it all:
Capture her daughter to sell off to Marines who want her captive
Attack their allies home base that has been secret all these years

Endeared by father and technically led to the opening to save his life:
    Attack her homeland kingdom

Also, can't help but fell like Yamato secretly Big Mom child would be obvious and hilarious.
